Whether you’re a fan of the popular Brazilian steakhouse or going for the first time, you’ll want to read this guide to the best menu items. I’ve tasted them all so you don’t have to. (You’re welcome!)
Best appetizer: Braised beef rib sliders
It’s like a Brazilian French sandwich with caramelized onions and smoked provolone. Sliders are generally pretty weak for me (too much bread, overcooked meat, too expensive) but these prove that you * can * make an amazing slider.
Honorable mention: Warm hearts of palm and spinach dip. Throw out the crostini and eat with a spoon.
Best cocktail: Fogo Premium Caipirinha
Sometimes the classic is the best way to go. Similar to a mojito, this caipirinha has the right balance of sweet and tangy. It’s like an adult limeade.
Best Meat: Wagyu New York Strip Steak
I’m not exaggerating when I say this was the best steak I have ever eaten already had. The steak is served on a huge block of Himalayan salt and sprinkled with flaky sea salt. It’s a masterpiece; I could have cried. If you’re not spending $ 125 for 20 ounces of wagyu, I recommend the picanha from the churrasco selection. As this is the main part of the top sirloin, it is super tender and delicious.
Best side: Pão de Quiejo
Can you imagine if I didn’t mention the coveted bottomless cheese bread that is pão de quiejo? Criminal. If you’ve had Yorkshire pudding before, here’s a mini cheese version. (The genius of the test kitchen, June, loves pão de quiejo so much that she puts them on her Christmas table.) I could eat them every day for the rest of my life and be happy.
Honorable mention: The Fogo Feijoada. The waiters said it was their choice after working a shift and I can see why; it’s so heartwarming.
Best dessert: Passion fruit mousse
It’s tangy, refreshing and light. Do you know when you think you can’t put something else in your stomach? If you’re still craving something sweet, it’s definitely worth saving some space.
