Residents of Sadler’s Cat since early August, Desert Island Dumplings are known for their unconventional approach to vegan food.
Moving on now from their cozy booth which was previously part of NOMA, the restaurant has confirmed that it will launch as a pop-up in Ancoats General Store from Monday 31st October.
Bringing an extensive menu of signature dishes, diners can look forward to breakfast, lunch and share fare – all 100% plant-based.
For example, if you’re dropping by for breakfast, the team have created Fried Breakfast Dumplings – a twist on the traditional English staple, featuring garlicky mushrooms, sausages, bacon, potatoes hash browns and cheezy beans – alongside packets filled with blueberry overnight oats.
At midday the menu changes to include a range of fried dumpling options including; Cheezburger, Salt & Pepper Chikn, Shawarma Kebab, Chikn Tikka and a special Dumpling of the Week option which will rotate regularly.
Known for its other unique takes on conventional classics, Desert Island Dumplings will also have a dedicated hash brown menu once it opens at the end of the month – something we are VERY excited about!
Those who hit the pop-up will be able to choose from Salt and Pepper Hash Browns, Hash Brown Poutine, Hash Browns with Cheesy Beans or just a classic fried version. The perfect morning snack for a horrible hangover.
Taking to Instagram, the restaurant said: “I have big plans for 24/7 simpsons episodes and crispy dumplings dipped in glorious soup to help shake off the winter blues!
“A long time ago when I had a desk job in town I couldn’t get out of bed without the pull of hash browns and coffee, no, it fills me with joy to take on the challenge of improving your morning commute a bit.”
Following a great success at WORMLiverpool’s Kazimier Garden and Sadler’s Cat, the restaurant’s new home is sure to bring it a whole new base of fans crazy about this unconventional approach to vegan dining.
Desert Island Dumplings will open its new Ancoats pop-up on Monday, October 31.
