Chef-Published Menu Items for San Diego Beer Week Closing Event at The Lodge At Torrey Pines


The Beer Garden at The Lodge at Torrey Pines is the famous closing event of San Diego Beer Week. It takes place on Sunday, November 13, and menu items have been released. As always, 14 renowned local chefs/establishments are paired with 28 local independent craft breweries for the event hosted by the San Diego Brewers Guild.

1. The golden door (Greg Frey) with Mother Earth and Wild Barrel – Golden Bánh Mi, Rabbit Mortadella, Roasted Goat Cheese, Chicken Pot Pie, Marinated Daikon, Serrano Butter, Country Store White Bread

2. The wise beef Butcher & Deli by Trust Restaurant Group (Brad Wise and Jeremy Harville) with Belching Beaver and Second Chance Brewing – Chocolate Peanut Butter Ice Cream, Caramel Swirl, Fudge Ripple, Peanut Butter Nougat, Pretzels, dry-aged burger, mayonnaise and mustard, pickles, bacon

3. Grilled Grapefruit (Jeffrey Strauss) with Pure project and Company – Duck confit empanada with roasted red pepper sauce ~ Frisée salad with quince, pomegranate, grilled nuggets, pomegranate vinaigrette

4. ANIMALS Waygu Steakhouse (Tara Monsod) with White Labs and Burgeon – Taiwanese Fried Chicken, Hot Honey, Thai Basil

5. Ballast Point Brewing Co. (Tommy DiMella) with Viewpoint Brewing Co. and Ballast Point Brewing – Grilled Marbled Potatoes, Bacon Jam, Parsnip Bechamel, Raw Beet Variations

6. The Lodge at Torrey Pines (Paul Arias) with Alesmith and original 40 – Smoked shrimp hot dog on brioche bread pomegranate pickle relish, golden beet mustard

7. Charcoal Grill by Buona Forchetta Restaurant Group (Hanis Cavin) with Eppig Brewing and Mujeres Brewing – Smoked Beef Shoulder, Crispy Potato Cake, Beer BBQ Sauce, Pickled Pearl Onions

8. WellFed (Phillip Esteban) with Harland Brewery and North Park Beer – Bicol Express; Crispy pork, long beans, coconut milk, crispy garlic, green onions, garlic rice

9. Karl Strauss Brewery. (Gunther Emathinger and Corey Rapp) with Karl Strauss Brewing and Accelerated brewing – Sirloin strips, firecracker sauce on green papaya salad

10. Kingfisher (Jonathan Bautista) with Coronado Brewery and Brewing of thorns – Baja Bay scallops, celery, pineapple, tomato, tamarind, seaweed, Thai basil, paddy rice herbs

11. Blue Bridge Hospitality (Ronnie Schwandt and Matt Sramek) with Rouleur Brewery and My yard live – Lamb Meatballs with Merguez Spices, Chermoula, Cous Cous

12. Tom Hams Lighthouse (Kyle Kovar) with Chula Vista Brewery and Port Pizza – Duck Leg Confit, Sweet Corn Purée, Frisee, Goat Cheese, Radish, Blackberry

13. creek house (Lance Repp) with Dos Desperados Brewery and Smoking cannon – Roasted buttered squash/avocado toast with crispy prosciutto, honey and sherry syrup, toasted hazelnuts

14. Goldfinch Deli by Urban Kitchen Group (Jeff Armstrong and Tim Kolanko) with California Wild Ales and Mission Brewery – Potato Latke, Smoked Cobia, Horseradish Cream, Trout Eggs
