Lu Ban Launches Authentic Tianjin-Inspired Chinese Menu for Christmas


Cains Brewery Village-based Lu Ban has launched a different Christmas menu.

True to the Tianjin roots that inspired the brand, the festive menu is bursting with flavor and Christmas cheer. Subtle notes of plum sauce, five spice, star anise and orange have been delicately crafted into the menu to delight festive taste buds with many traditional Christmas treats appearing on the menu with a Lu Ban twist .

The popular restaurant located in the Cains Brewery Village is delighted to offer a delicious alternative to the traditional festive fayre. The festive three-course menu comprising a starter, main course and sweet dish is £49.50pp with an additional optional course of the popular dishes of roast duck and pancakes, or mock duck and pancakes (the T and C apply).

Appetizers include the popular Yin and Yang Sweet and Sour Soup, Smoked Salmon with Winter Radish, Pomegranate and Tangerine, Jasmine Smoked Ulverston Pork Chops with a Sweet Garlic, Ginger and Sesame Glaze, as well as than Kung Po cauliflower.

The traditional turkey is replaced with a smoked duck breast, full of flavors including tamarind, star anise and plum sauce. Fish lovers can sample Toban Jiang trout, a sumptuous pan-roasted fillet, wok-fried vegetables, toban jiang and green onion oil. Alternatively, main dishes include pork and apple and a smoked tofu Buddah delight.

The team also produced a sensational trio of desserts for diners to choose from, including the tasty theatrical chocolate sphere, mouth-watering You Tiao donuts or a poached Tianjin pear.
