The same restaurant that brought us salt and pepper dumplings is launching its own breakfast menu dedicated to hash browns.
Desert Island Dumplings comes from humble beginnings, with founder Lucy starting the business by taking orders via Instagram and pedaling her plant-based dumplings through Liverpool on her bicycle.
Following the initial success of Desert Island Dumplings, Lucy managed to secure a place in Liverpool’s Kazimier Garden and earlier this year was even nominated in the ‘Best Dumpling’ category at this year’s Golden Chopstick Awards.
Since then Desert Island Dumplings has operated in a number of different locations here in Manchester including Grub and most recently Sadler’s Cat at NOMA.
For its latest venture, the restaurant has confirmed it will launch as a pop-up in Ancoats General Store from Monday, October 31, and it has created a brand new breakfast menu to celebrate.
On the new menu, guests will be able to find all-vegetable products Fried dumplings for breakfast – a version of the traditional English staple, with garlicky mushrooms, ‘sausage’, ‘bacon’, hash browns and ‘cheezy’ beans – alongside packets filled with blueberry overnight oats.
There will also be a menu entirely dedicated to hash browns, including Hash browns salt and pepper, Poutine with hash browns, Hash browns with ‘Cheezy Beans’or just a classic fried version.
Writing on Instagram, Lucy said: “I have big plans for 24/7 The Simpsons episodes and crispy dumplings dipped in glorious soup to help shake off the winter blues!
“A long time ago when I had a desk job in town I couldn’t get out of bed without the pull of hash browns and coffee, now it fills me with joy to take on the challenge of improving a bit your morning commute.”
