Here is the Seniors Nutrition Program lunch menu for the month of November. Call the Heritage Center in Keokuk at 319-524-5464 to reserve or cancel meals 1-2 days in advance.
For people aged 60 and over and their spouse, there is a suggested contribution of $5. Persons under the age of 60 must pay the full meal charge posted at the Nutrition Center unless otherwise specified.
The menus provide one third of the Dietary Reference Intakes currently recommended for people aged 70 and over.
Tuesday, November 1 – Garden quiche, ham salad sandwich, roasted zucchini, tangerines.
Wednesday, November 2 – Maple Brown Sugar Pork Loin, Ranch Baked Potato Casserole, Brussels Sprouts, Whole Grain Roll, No-Bake Cookie. (Vegetable of your choice: corn)
Thursday November 3 – Beef Stroganoff, noodles, green beans with onions, whole grain bread, baked apples and raisins, vanilla ice cream.
Friday, November 4 – Swiss cheeseburger on a bun, lettuce leaf and tomato, fresh baked sweet potato, broccoli with cheese sauce, fruit cocktail.
Monday, November 7 – Cheese Tortellini with Alfredo Sauce, Buttered Italian Mixed Vegetables, Garlic Bread Stick, Tropical Fruits.
Tuesday, November 8 – Unstuffed peppers over steamed rice, buttered carrots, whole-grain bun, tangy spiced apples.
Wednesday, November 9 – Chili soup, crackers, carrot salad with raisins, cornbread, seasonal fruit.
Thursday November 10 – Cheeseburger, Tater Tots, Baked Beans, Fruit Cocktail, Cherry Jell-O Cake With Whipped Topping.
Friday November 11 (Veterans Day) – All Nutrition Centers will be closed for Veterans Day. Contact local nutrition centers for options.
Monday November 14 – BBQ pulled chicken on a bun, broccoli, cinnamon baked pears. (Vegetable option on site: corn)
Tuesday, November 15 – Turkey and cheese on a bun, lettuce leaf, tomato slice and mayonnaise. Kidney bean salad, marinated coleslaw, chilled peaches.
Wednesday, November 16 – Panko-crusted fish, rice pilaf, green beans, chopped green salad, apple pie.
Thursday, November 17 – Ham and potato gratin, peas, biscuit, margarine, lemon bar.
Friday, November 18 – Meatloaf, mashed potatoes with gravy, spinach bake, mixed berry crisp, whole grain roll. (Vegetable options for dinner: beans)
Monday, Nov. 21 – Chicken fajita bread shell tacos, shredded lettuce, cheese, diced tomatoes, rice and beans, tangerines.
Tuesday, November 22 – Vegetable egg cooking, turkey sausage patty, hash browns, breaded potatoes, tomatoes, pineapple. Banana muffin.
Wednesday, Nov. 23 (Holiday Meal) – Roast turkey, gravy, cornbread dressing, mashed sweet potatoes, green bean casserole, wheat bun, pumpkin pie.
Thursday, November 24 (Thanksgiving Day) – All Menu Area Nutrition Centers will be closed for the holidays. Contact local centers for options.
Friday November 25 – All nutrition centers in the menu area will be closed for the holidays. Contact local centers for options.
Monday, November 28 — Beef macaroni casserole, tarragon peas, garlic roll, tangerines, brownie.
Tuesday, November 29 – Ham and fresh beans, green salad, vinaigrette, cornbread, peaches.
Wednesday, November 30 – Herb baked cod, brown rice pilaf, spinach and onions, whole grain poll, pear lime gelatin.
